DEAR WEHO: You’ve lost the confidence of the Norma Triangle neighborhood

Dear West Hollywood City Council,

We are frustrated, we are disgusted and we are angry.

How dare you put aside the wishes of the people that elected you. In one night, with the defunding of the sheriff’s department and with supporting alcohol sales until 4am, you have lost the confidence of the neighborhood. You totally dismissed the majority of your residents to support your own personal agenda.

That is not what you were elected to do.

Eliminating sheriff deputies during a rise in crime while at the same time supporting alcohol sales until 4am is both irresponsible and lacking reason.

In the past few days were have received a record number of emails from neighborhood residents, asking us how they can get involved as they feel their local government has abandoned them.

Our neighborhood  will be organizing, we will be strategizing and in the future, we will be supporting candidates that actually listen to the residents.

Sincerely,
Norma Triangle Neighborhood Watch

The only people I see complaining about the reduction is sherriff deputies are the ones who aren’t afraid of being killed by them. Less sherriff’s on the street mean the POC in your life have a better chance of making it home alive. #BLM

U don’t speak for the entire area sorry. Some of us are great with reducing the power of the corrupt sheriff until he’s voted out

Yes he does speak for everyone. Woke will be defeated in November because of bad choices in life by the members of the city council and you.

Nope no one speaks for an entire area. Get over yourself.

Fortunately this can be reversed by re-electing Lauren Miester and two other grown ups like Steve Martin and John Heilman. Some of these reductions in deputies doesn’t begin for 6 months. After the appointment of hopefully the right council members they can reverse the 4 a.m. liquor law.

I’ll be dragging as many people as I can who don’t usually vote in local politics to the polls to make sure only people who support the later last call get support. Nightlife is West Hollywood’s top driver, always has been and will be.

Later bar hours will only exacerbate the current relative balance which has been exponentially overrun by crime. How difficult is that to understand. Please name one issue after throwing more revenue into the mix has improved quality of life. Too much alcohol, accompanied by drugs result in addled brains that fail to understand logic and reason.

Our safety is evidently our own hands. Best recommendation is to strengthen neighborhood associations and watch groups and factor in coordination with the Sheriff.

Did people forget about the big Hotels, straight bars and restaurants that everyone is surrounded by. This is going to impact the entire city and surrounding areas.

Norma Triangle is not the only WeHo citizen group with a similar reaction. The council votes taken this past Monday night has sent shivers throughout the WeHo community … how could a WeHo City Council be so out of touch with the health & safety of it’s citizens.

Some of the posts on this page have asked how to get involved. One way is to VOTE in the November election for our mayor, Lauren Meister, who has articulated your concerns and voted no on defunding the police and extending bar hours past 2am.

People want to do more. We want a way for our voices to be heard now so that we don’t lose deputies. Ms Shyne is not up for re-election for another year. A recall, mass petition, etc is in order. The time to organize against this is now. The huge majority of residents and business owners I have spoke with are very upset about this.
