UPDATED: Mural’s muse is … Councilmember Lindsey Horvath?

The woman depicted in the mural at Santa Monica Blvd. and Robertson Ave. is none other than Councilmember Lindsey Horvath!

Speculation began Friday when the outlines of a mysterious blonde began to coalesce on the corner building. Instead of a piece of public art, this installation appears to be a political ad in support of Horvath’s campaign for County Supervisor. The finished portrait captures Horvath’s color scheme and distinct features, but she appears somehow less than happy as she gazes out at the city where her political career began and flourished.

Neighbors for Lindsey Horvath for Supervisor has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the candidate, but few of those came from actual neighbors. More typical are donors like Athens Enterprises of City of Industry, which handles WeHo’s trash and recycling, which gave the group $10,000. A glance through the contribution reports reveals donation after donation from Los Angeles and Santa Monica but few from WeHo itself.

The mural replaces a bright, psychedelic mural by LGBTQIA+ artist Lauren Ys painted in 2021.

It’s not the first creative whitewashing her campaign has engaged in.

Horvath recently scrubbed references to the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as to the City of West Hollywood, from her campaign webpage, a move speculators think her campaign made to increase her appeal in other L.A. communities.

Why would Horvath ever hire a campaign manager who would ever encourage anyone to put up this ludicrous advert!? Is this the guy, who’s girlfriend, is running for Sea council and is the anti-semit?

After a little leg work…found out this visual blight was NOT approved by the Arts Commission and no one in planning knows anything about it. There is a high possibility that it is illegal graffiti.
It is now being investigated.

It looks like something her detractors did- the “I smell poop” look on her face could read as how she feels about WeHo now that she’s moving on..

There is something to the old saying “ a dog smells it’s own dirt first”.🙄

The very negative comments combined with the visual blight are proving great for a video to negate any possibility of Horvath being elected to LA County Board of Supervisors. Also, great material to pitch New York again for a little bad publicity. Fox and the New York Post…& the Daily Mail. Who’s your campaign manager? The cute guy that was running hottie Eric’s Swallwell’s presidential campaign. Maybe she should bring in her former campaign manager. The boyfriend of the anti-semite that’s running for the West Hollywood City Council.

Get real. It’s only the beginning. To be sure she’s not elected to the LA County Supervisor position. Resulting in Horvath is total history in West Hollywood. Next on the list is John Erickson and Sepi Shyne! 😗

I will, after she gets the message of how hated she is.

Horvath, Heilman and Duran were a smug power threesome when on the council, who shut the other 2 out completely. Petulant child Heilman wouldn’t even acknowledge D’Amico forever, then one day D’Amico moved over to the dark side leaving all of his supporters stumped. Meister is the ONLY one who has remained true to who she is and what she’s said. So no, personally I don’t tire as Horvath (and the others) did it to themselves. Good riddance to them all.

No. It’s the least we can do to protest the corruption of that vile, egomaniacal, lazy, self-serving hyprocite.

This is a VILE piece of urban blight that has NO place in the City of West Hollywood. Regardless of who owns that building, the City has a vested interest in keeping this kind of crap out of public view as a nuisance. How can this be enacted? This should be painted over immediately, and must violate some kind of zoning laws. Or at least install a vomitorium under the mural for the people passing by so it doesn’t get all over the sidewalks, yet another mess for our City to clean up. And yet it won’t be Horvath; she… Read more »

I agree. I’m really offended by this crappy artwork. It implies that the people of West Hollywood support Horvath, when clearly we don’t.

Will be interesting to see the manner in which it is defaced.

I’m sure that’s inevitable, and I anticipate that with great delight. Couldn’t happen to a “better” “candidate”.

If this was on a private structure, who cares? Seriously? The “Neighbors for Lindsey Horvath,” no matter who they represent, have a right to spend their money, as they please, be it the HBO side of the building on Sunset (if they had that much money), or flyers to the public. I WILL NOT be voting for her, but seriously, who cares, if they wish to spend their money in Weho this way? People who live in the city know the truth, and I’m sure it will vandalized in about five seconds, which is gross, no matter what anyone thinks.… Read more »

What an insult to the community, destroying a quality, LGBTQ-positive mural for a cheap-looking political ad!

In LA County campaign signage must come down within 10 days after the election.

If you still see signs up after that time, you can report to the Code Compliance Hotline at 323-848-6516, who will contact the candidate and ask him or her to remove them.

Would have been better if it showed the actual two faces of Lindsey Horvath.
