Dear Weho,
I spent at least four hours watching the city council’s meeting before I just had to turn it off. I couldn’t take it anymore. It was torture.
The only reason I was watching in the first place was to hear why the city is flushing aquifer water down the drains, but they didn’t even talk about that. What I saw was an utter shitshow.
One crazy bitch after another, ranting …. no, SCREAMING into the microphone.
One guy asking people to support athletes who use steroids.
Another five people saying Weho doesn’t need police.
And then there was a poor soul named Annie Jump Vicente, who took it to another level.
Annie Jump is a trans woman who ended up with a neck brace after she wouldn’t let police into her building to investigate a domestic violence call.
Let me be very clear….. police brutality is unforgivable, PERIOD. Bad cops need to be whipped in public and then locked up forever.
But if Annie Jump was acting like this in the middle of a crime scene, she shouldn’t be surprised she got arrested.
She threw off the whole meeting with her antics and made it seem OK for others to act out too. I felt bad for the council people, who looked like they wanted to kill themselves. I kept asking myself….. Why do they put up with this?
Seriously, this is supposed to be what a “functioning” government looks like? Some shitty reality show?
Do they have to allow anyone and everyone to come in and make it look like a joke? Why are these random people allowed to waste everyone else’s time like this? Do they even live in this city?
I’m a 36 year old single mom. I moved here right after my divorce was finalized two months ago. My ex (god help her) is an abusive bipolar mess of a human being. So I was really hoping Weho would be a safe, peaceful SANE place for my son to grow up.
This is definitely NOT what I had in mind.
Do better, Weho! Kick out the clowns before its too late!

[…] it provides us immunity from the political circus antics, the coordinated mobs and undemocratic shout-downs that have plagued physical meetings as of […]
Annie Jump is a local hero and one of the kindest and smartest people I know. You should listen to what she has to say instead of being a conservative hack.
Could you please illuminate some examples of kindness and smartness?
You need to get out more Abby. And if conservative means not bat s***t crazy, count me in.
First, I’ve been giving public comment before you finalized the purchase on your home. Second, nice way to ignore anything related to what was spoken. You feel sorry for me but.. do you even care that cops arrest people without a warrant? Do you even care to mention anywhere here that I wasn’t even related to the call? Didn’t you hear they arrested me based a false police report? Didn’t you hear that call to dispatch somehow was in my name when I did not call? Don’t you care about details at all? Go back a few months and watch… Read more »
After 27 years in weho I can say this: The crazies used to be the homeless wandering around talking to themselves. Now, with public assistance programs, some of the more intelligent crazies like yourself have been able to secure subsidized housing and all sorts of assistance. These VERY generous gifts to you have only served to warp your minds into thinking somehow your nutty behavior is valid and appropriate. It is NOT. Instead of being grateful for these gifts and the protections you have under the law, you scream for more and more– like petulant children pounding fists at the… Read more »
You speak as though you’re a different breed of person because of your position in wealth. Also, again, it’s not about only being misgendered. That’s a small part here. The more important point that you keep missing as does everyone else is that the police arrested me in my home without a warrant. Why are all of you more fixed on the misgendered part and the trans part? Get over yourselves and stop thinking everything is solely about identity. Just strip it all down for a quick second: The police arrested a person inside their home without a warrant after… Read more »
I thought that the misgendering part wasn’t a small part, since it is supposed to be the motivation behind the Sheriff’s behavior? Aren’t the problems with the hierarchy of class and race behind the argument for abolition? Annie, you’re more educated than most of the people in this city, I think you can do better.
“My home” = your apartment? I thought you were arrested outside of the building, which is what I saw in the video your roommate posted. This situation is so confusing. It would be so helpful for your cause if you could be specific.
It doesn’t register to us when a group of trans citizens speak like disrespectful, out of their mind nuts at the city council meeting. Watch the tape. Do you really think you personally came off as a rational, logical human being? And the icing on the cake was an accusation by one of the trans speakers that because the council is “white” they are unsympathetic to trans issues. That was the last straw, ma’am, and the cause of all the animosity your are seeing here. If you had any sense, you would cultivate ties with these so called “white elites”… Read more »
Repeating your claim one hundred times does not make it true. You defy credibility. You could choose to straighten up and fly right but your anger will forever restrain you.
You don’t need a warrant to arrest someone for obstruction. Look it up. The penal code is online.
What a disgusting display by the Annie supporters at this meeting. While I don’t want trans people to feel unsafe, they do need to understand they also don’t get special treatment. They sheriff’s were trying to do their job and she attempted to stop them. They were correct to take her into custody. As for all her supporters at the meeting— grow up. Life is going to be difficult for you. Society is only going to give you limited support. Stop looking for society to exhalt you. It’s not going to happen. Some people will view you as freaks. You… Read more »
A completely reasonable comment.
1:50:49 to see just how much the mayor cares about what she’s talking about
It was “bracing” to experience so many younger folks participating in their City government albeit to address the assembly, as if they were council, instead of addressing Council, and in their own self-interest with little knowledge of effective public speaking and concerning the consequences of allegedly interfering with law enforcement officers in the line of duty. Perhaps Public Comment should be restricted to the use of Emojis?
Noticed the same thing, but it wasn’t just young people. Did you see that self-absorbed person, Nicholas Roybal, addressing the crowd and pontificating? Looking at his instagram, it seems that he’s a grifter type. Jackie Steele, also older, was doing the same thing. I’m not fooled by the crazy hairdo and vocal fry!
Thank you for calling it out.
“No need to Send in the Clowns; they’re already here……”
…..Well, maybe next year (too)
SECOND PART As for the uncontrollable and apparently irrational and perhaps threatening in tone citizen speakers … That is unusual. I am going only on the behavior and actions I have seen the city council do at public meetings to disrupt very question to outright universally HATED, PROJECTS in meeting calendars 1. Sounds like (as has happen in the past, but to a lesser degree) the Council has had people come (paid – who else would) but would be like rednecks of the “TRUMP MOB” Going in on not just liking but loving whatever project every onrhated for the project… Read more »
Take a moment, the public meetings are required by law so the city council doesn’t railroad the city & it’s money into their own projects via insane vanity project. I have not compared, but WeHo city council has lied and changed the wording of THE BROWN ACT giving residents rights to Publix c hearing and speaking. Heilman clearly had created a massive set of plans that will like rivel his insane, unconscionable and illegal big budget half billion redo of WeHo park, new and library who knows how much more than a HALF A BILLION DOLLARS (over $500 million and… Read more »
Trans are selfish and narcissistic its all about then. So what, you cut off a body part. Who cares go live your life and quit promoting yourself like your special.
1986 called, it wants its callous bigotry back
The truth is sometimes hard to face. Asking someone to stop grandstanding is not bigotry. Victim hood has peaked.
I attached the District Attorney’s Charge Report in the comments. Please read them and let me know if I’m just “playing victim.”
At least we escaped one of Sepi’s dopey poems.
Oh good. Chemo is expensive and I don’t need anymore carcinogenic things in my life.
