West Hollywood sheriff’s deputies Saturday fired shots at a vehicle theft suspect during a pursuit.

The shooting occurred at about 6 p.m. in the 1200 block of Alta Loma Road, Deputy Armando Viera told City News Service.

Viera did not say what led the deputies to fire at the vehicle, which fled the scene.

An investigation was underway to determine if anyone in the allegedly stolen vehicle was hit by the gunfire, he said.

Nothing was mentioned about a weapon. Shooting at a person tryng to steal a car sounds like policing gone badly wrong.

Since when is property worth more than human life?
Don’t answer a rhetorical question. We are a small r-republican democratic free-market society.

Remember the young woman killed at a Burlington Coat Factory last year by a ricocheted bullet?

Four gunshots at 5:09 pm Saturday. Apparently the perp didn’t know that our street, Alta Loma, is closed at the north end by the Sunset Marquis Hotel. But then he bailed and ran up to a car on Sunset and fled scene.
Hope the bollards didn’t delay sheriffs pursuing him.
THANK YOU LASD for everything that you do to protect us and be there for us. Too often goes unappreciated.

Praying’ that the council lets the sheriffs do their job. We don’t need Shyne pontificating and passing judgement here. Nor any other council member. Let the sheriff sheriff.

The story doesn’t say that they caught the guy, just opened fire in the street. That’s not exactly a great conclusion to this.

No where, law enforcement is not their job, their duties are to give directions for those who don’t have smartphones in 2023, nod hi, monitor public bathrooms and occasionally assist the 38 homeless, even though Sepi Shyne, John Erickson and Chelsea Byers are cutting sheriff to staff BBB. God forbid we have a mass casualty event like what recently happened in Monterey Park, and this experiment is radical wokeness puts our lives at stake.

Silly people run this city. All the serious professionals have zero interest in these jobs……so it’s just confused silly people making decisions about things in their nutty world.
