UPDATE: Temporary fencing at West Hollywood Park has been adjusted to allow access from N. San Vicente Boulevard to the large dog park. The large dog park will be open from Saturday, March 4 through Thursday, March 9 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily and from Tuesday, March 14 through Thursday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. A closure will remain in effect from Friday, March 10 through Monday, March 13.
During the first two weeks in March, from Wednesday, March 1, 2023 to Wednesday, March 16, 2023 there will a temporary closure of certain sections of West Hollywood Park, located at 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard – including small and large dog parks and basketball courts – to accommodate the annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party and fundraiser.
Additionally, there will be intermittent lane closures on N. San Vicente Boulevard, one full street closure, and impacts to certain West Hollywood Park facilities, as follows:
Intermittent lane closures will occur on Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Pacific Design Center Drive on the following dates:
- Friday, March 3, 2023 – Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard #1 & #2 lanes will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m.;
- Saturday, March 4, 2023 – Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard #1 & #2 lanes will be closed from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.;
- Monday, March 6, 2023 through Thursday, March 9, 2023 (Daily) – Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard #2 lane will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.;
- Friday, March 10, 2023 through Monday, March 13, 2023 – Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard #2 lane will be closed from 8 a.m. on Friday, March 10through 10 p.m. on Monday, March 13;
- Monday, March 13, 2023 – Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard #1 lane will be closed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and
- Tuesday, March 14, 2023 - Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard #1 & #2 lanes will be closed from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
One full street closure will occur on Northbound and Southbound N. San Vicente Boulevard between Santa Monica Boulevard and Melrose Avenue starting on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2 p.m.; the street will reopen on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 6 a.m.
West Hollywood Park facilities impacts/closures will occur as follows:
- West Hollywood Park small and large dog parks and basketball courts will be closed from Wednesday, March 1, 2023 through Wednesday, March 16, 2023; and
- West Hollywood Park Five-Story Parking Structure will be closed all day on Sunday, March 12, 2023; the structure will reopen on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 6 a.m.

Full endorser of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, but this private party closing a public park (and killing the grass again) needs to be moved to the PDC. The city should tell us how much money the two week closure of West Hollywood Park is fetching for the city. With so many venues in the area, taking over the public park is ridiculous.
The half billion dollar park was designed and built FOR THE ELTON JOHN PARTY. Was it needed? If John Heilman is in office, there is ALWAYS A NEED FOR UNNESCESSATY and Criminally Overpriced Projects …. Heilman got his name on the Library Donners light up display inside the front big glass window of the library.
