West Hollywood’s Planning Commissioners unanimously selected their next chair and vice-chair — Rogerio Carvalheiro and Michael Lombardi — at their Thursday night meeting. Carvalheiro will take the reins from outgoing Chair Stacey Jones.

Michael Lombardi
Michael Lombardi is an architect specializing in lighting design. Originally from Albany, N.Y., he graduated from Penn State University with a major in Architectural Engineering. With an impressive career that includes working on the World Trade Center redevelopment project, Lombardi is now an Associate Principal at the Sean O’Connor Lighting Company in West Hollywood.
Passionate about community development, Lombardi serves as a Commissioner on West Hollywood’s Planning Commission. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, emphasizing the importance of sustainable and thoughtful design, green spaces, and safe neighborhoods. Lombardi actively participates in the design review subcommittee and volunteers for the Sunset Blvd. billboard subcommittee, utilizing his expertise to balance lighting concerns.
Inspired by architectural visionaries like Edward Fickett and Japanese architectural aesthetics, Lombardi approaches design as a creative thinker and problem solver. He values listening to the community and advocates for their diverse needs. Outside of his professional endeavors, Lombardi enjoys traveling and shares his life with his partner, Matthew Brinkmoeller, who is involved in diversity and inclusion work at the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
No normal people were available ??
Reads as if we are very fortunate to have these people in our city.
Serving effectively on the Planning Commission is one of the most challenging assignments in the City. Both of these Commissioners have proven to be thoughtful and articulate in a job that takes hours out of your week.
These hours each week directly translate into a revenue stream rather than service, may be theoretically budgeted as one’s PR efforts nit service. True service does not require or accept recognition. It goes to ethical behavior. However this type of behavior was also applauded by another on a different commission who put his calling card out there. Articulate as these folks may be admittedly, this represents essentially a quiz pro quo.
Spot on, Steve. You know what you are talking about.
