Hauser & Wirth West Hollywood will unveil a new solo exhibition featuring the works of the highly esteemed American artist Jenny Holzer. The exhibition, “READY FOR YOU WHEN YOU ARE,” will debut Sept. 1 and will be open to the public until Oct. 21. The gallery will host a free opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.
Holzer is a trailblazing American conceptual and installation artist who has been a prominent figure in the art world for several decades.
She gained widespread recognition for her work that employs text in public spaces, utilizing a diverse range of media from electronic signs and carved stone to paintings and billboards. Holzer’s art is designed to provoke public debate and illuminate issues related to social and political justice.
Her work creates an intricate tension between the realms of emotion and intellect, exploring both individual and collective experiences of power, violence, vulnerability, and compassion. Holzer’s oeuvre is a complex interplay of public and private, of the monumental and the intimate, and it continues to evolve, always capturing the zeitgeist.
“READY FOR YOU WHEN YOU ARE” is a comprehensive showcase of Holzer’s most recent creations, which include not only paintings but also intriguing curse tablets. Visitors will also have the opportunity to engage with three kinetic displays that further demonstrate Holzer’s avant-garde approach to art. Holzer is renowned for her politically charged and thought-provoking works that span a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture, light projection and installation. This exhibition is no exception, offering a rich tapestry of artistic expression that challenges the very boundaries of contemporary art.
Hauser & Wirth is a leading international gallery with locations around the globe. The West Hollywood gallery is located at 8980 Santa Monica Blvd.
