The annual Historic Preservation Celebration in West Hollywood, dubbed “Plummer Park Through the Years,” is set to commemorate the rich history and significant events that have taken place within Plummer Park’s iconic buildings. Scheduled for Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 11 a.m., the gathering will be held in the Fiesta Hall of Plummer Park, situated at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard. The event is complimentary and open to everyone, with refreshments available.
Alongside its yearly celebration, West Hollywood has joined forces with the California Preservation Foundation for the second installment of their Doors Open event. From noon to 3 p.m., the Great Hall, Long Hall, and Fiesta Hall will be accessible to the public. Visitors can gain insights into the organizations that have been instrumental in promoting a sense of community within Plummer Park’s historic edifices.
Established in 1984, West Hollywood places a high emphasis on the conservation of its cultural assets. The city’s Current and Historic Preservation Planning Division collaborates with the Historic Preservation Commission to pinpoint and safeguard historic landmarks within the community. Since the enactment of its Historic Preservation Ordinance in 1989, the city has recognized over 100 buildings as cultural landmarks. Anyone who supported saving these ordinary outdated buildings has lost the right to complain about the lack of parking anywhere.
People that have no respect for their history and the fabric that united a community far beyond parking has not much of a voice.
I don’t completely disagree. It’s just that supporters of the nonsense of preserving mostly useless buildings, which doesn’t have enough parking, who denied the city the chance to build new buildings with lots of parking, including underground parking, look quite hypocritical when they complain about the lack of parking. And keep in mind something like 90% of the daily users of that park don’t even live in West Hollywood. What a waste.
The myopic view you often express is not representative of the community that desires harmony and less arbitrary disruption .
yes we are getting many complaints about the condescending tone of this poster and he is being monitored.
This poster has never revealed what gender/genders should be used. This is gender shaming.
Yes. My myopic views, based on facts you don’t like. You want the weho paradise harmony fantasy. That doesn’t exist.
please present these “facts”
I’m with you.
More insight into Plummer Park’s History. Showing early photographs, courtyard and interiors of Great Hall/Long Hall and recalling Audubon House, commemorations of the early Russian Community. Looking forward to reassembling and burnishing Plummer Park as it is long overdue.
