The well-known Rainbow Bar & Grill in Hollywood is contesting allegations that it enabled Ron Jeremy, a former adult film actor facing multiple charges of sexual misconduct, to assault women on its premises. Two anonymous women filed a lawsuit against the bar and its parent company, Rockin’ Horse Inc., in August. They claim that staff at the establishment drugged their drinks before Jeremy led them to an employee restroom, referred to as his “dungeon,” where he sexually assaulted them. The business has firmly rejected all the claims put forth by the plaintiffs, who are seeking financial damages.
Ron Jeremy, 70, faces over 30 charges of sexual assault or rape involving 21 women. Several of these alleged incidents occurred at nightlife venues in the Los Angeles area. The two women, referred to as Jane Does in their lawsuit, claim that grand jury transcripts that led to Jeremy’s indictment mention at least five sexual assaults occurring at Rainbow Bar & Grill.
In their official response to the lawsuit, lawyers for the bar and Rockin’ Horse Inc. argue that the establishment could not have foreseen Jeremy’s alleged criminal activities and thus is not responsible for any harm caused to the plaintiffs. They assert that other entities, not party to the lawsuit, may be accountable for any damages the plaintiffs may have incurred. They are also calling for a jury trial and requesting that the plaintiffs be responsible for covering the bar’s legal fees.
The women’s complaint contends that the establishment failed to protect its patrons, knowingly allowing Jeremy to commit sexual offenses in the employee restroom. They argue that the bar was aware of Jeremy’s previous alleged offenses and accuse it of creating a dangerous environment for female patrons. According to the lawsuit, staff at the bar even aided Jeremy by preparing a drink known as the “Ron Jeremy special,” which one of the plaintiffs claims caused her to feel dizzy before being assaulted.
Earlier this year, Jeremy was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial on numerous charges of rape and sexual assault and was committed to a state mental health facility. He faces a potential 300 years in prison and is accused of a variety of sexual offenses involving victims as young as 15. These charges span over two decades and involve 21 victims, according to LA District Attorney George Gascón.
