Mikie Friedman shares her wish list for Hanukkah at Monday’s City Council meeting.

Hanukkah starts today — eight days of miracles. And I have a Hanukkah wish list, one wish for each day:
I wish that the Councilmember and staff would work as hard on our safety as they do on their political futures. If they love West Hollywood so much, why are they so anxious and eager to leave it? They seem to be having such a good time cutting ribbons and taking trips.
I wish the council could make decisions based on common sense rather than personal ideology.
I wish that when we, the citizens, ask the city for help, we could actually get it instead of hearing excuses and rationalizations of why they can’t or why they have to wait.
I wish that money was as readily available to help citizens with problems as it is for public events.
I wish that you would end your contract with Burden Lime scooters. They are dangerous to pedestrians, drivers, and me. By the way, are any of those expensive surveillance equipment to be used to prevent scooter accidents?
I wish there were stricter ordinances for developers, ones that are proactively and strenuously enforced, especially on properties that become vacant to prevent crime, drugs, and fire hazards. Sure, you just put up an after-the-fact security measure on Sierra Bonita today, but what about all the other vacant buildings?
I wish the council didn’t procrastinate with important and difficult decisions in order to avoid making them, as they did with the small business owners at the last city council meeting.
I wish that developers, big business, and Unite Here Local 11 would stay out of our politics and stop stuffing money into our politicians’ pockets.
And one extra wish:
I wish that you would realize that people who disagree with you are not your enemies, but they are your equals.
I wish Council members didn’t support Hamas. We have a squad of council members who have no business representing a city that was founded by Jews escaping Anti-semitism and persecution. The citizens will never become equals to these council member, unless of course, they get voted out.
She is quite brilliant and entertaining
