West Hollywood Planning Commissioner Erick Matos announced today he is running for Democratic Central Committee in Assembly District 51 in the March 5, 2024 Democratic primary election.
The son of Puerto Rican immigrants, Matos has served as a senior health policy advisor at Los Angeles County and L.A. Care Health Plan. He has been a CADEM delegate and was named Democrat of the Year in his assembly district. His advocacy work on behalf of the LGBTQIA+ community includes lobbying for increased access to PrEP and PEP, culturally competent health and mental health services and gender affirming care.
Since May 2023, Matos has served as one of two at-large appointees to the Planning Commission. His term ends next year.
The Democratic Central Committee refers to the governing body of the Democratic Party at the county level. Each of California’s 58 counties has its own Democratic Central Committee (DCC), which serves as the local presence and organizational structure of the Democratic Party within that county.
Membership of a Democratic Central Committee typically includes elected members (chosen during primary elections) and appointed members, with the composition and specific election/appointment processes varying by county.

Congratulations, Erick!
Thank you Elyse! ❤️
I wonder if he will run for City Council.
We could do (and have done) worse…
