Tristan Schukraft, the new owner of The Abbey and founder of MISTR, has announced the launch of Tryst Hotels, a new brand of luxury hotels catering to the LGBTQ+ community. The first hotel in the brand, Tryst Puerto Vallarta, is set to open in the Zona Romántica of Puerto Vallarta this spring.

The flagship property will feature 55 rooms, a rooftop pool and bar, and a Mexican restaurant, offering a luxury experience tailored to LGBTQ+ travelers.

Schukraft’s initiative for Tryst Hotels stems from his personal experiences and the recognition of a need for spaces where LGBTQ+ guests can enjoy luxury accommodations without compromise. The brand aims to be a place where gay culture is celebrated and all guests feel welcomed.

Following the opening of Tryst Puerto Vallarta, Schukraft plans to expand the Tryst Hotels brand. A previously acquired beachfront hotel is undergoing renovations to become a five-star resort by 2025. This property will include 33 rooms with balconies, a beach club with an infinity pool, a beachfront restaurant and bar, and a rooftop bar overlooking Condado.

A third luxury resort under the Tryst Hotels brand is expected to be announced later this year, further expanding the offerings for LGBTQ+ travelers.

In addition to his work with Tryst Hotels, Schukraft continues to support the LGBTQ+ community through other ventures. He founded MISTR, a service that provides free PrEP medication across the U.S., and plans to reopen Circo, an LGBTQ+ nightlife venue in San Juan. He has also acquired The Abbey Food & Bar and The Chapel in West Hollywood, expanding his portfolio of businesses that support the LGBTQ+ community.
