John D’Amico Goes Public with WeHo Term Limits Support

West Hollywood City Council, West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, John D'Amico, fur banWest Hollywood City Councilmember John D’Amico, who has maintained silence on the subject of term limits for city council members, says he supports such limits. D’Amico, speaking with WEHOville on Friday, said he hadn’t made a lot of noise about his support for term limits because he didn’t want to get involved in the already contentious campaign for two City Council seats. D’Amico was elected to the council in 2011. Incumbents John Duran and Jeffrey Prang, who have served 12 and 16 years on the council respectively, are running for re-election against seven challengers. Duran opposed term limits last summer. But early this year he added his name to a petition that required the City Council to put term limits on the March 5 ballot. The term limits proposal, known as Measure C, is not retroactive and would bar council members from serving more than three four-year terms.

While Councilman D’Amico has endorsed measure C, he has also endorsed Jeff Prang and John Duran for re-election. He wrote a very persuasive letter that was mailed to voters.

Thank you.

Yes, the majority of West Hollywood City Council shows a lack of true ethics, while also being selfish about holding onto their positions, rather than letting other accomplished people get on the council and provide some fresh ideas.

Please provide a link to where you saw Ryan bashing people. I looked on that site, but couldn’t find it. You can email me directly at mmooney@medibolics.com.

And thanks, again.

yes, ETHICS!!!…well said michael….and speaking of ethics, why does WEHOnews continue to try to bash and embarras the canidates (and themselves quite frankly) in their OBVIOUS supprt of duran and prang???….i thought the media is supposed to be unbiased and present the FACTS…..more and more, WEHOnews is putting out editorial pieces that are nothing more than puff journalism, not fact-based news….on the whoownsweho.org website, i see that ryan from WEHOnews is also trying to bash friends, neighbors, and voters who simply sought to get media links out to the voters….could it be because WEHOnews’ biased pieces weren’t included???….my guess is… Read more »

John continues to come out on the right side of issues that other council members betray themselves with – their position would keep them in office indefinitely. We need more like him, such as Steve Martin and Sam Borelli. Anyone against term limits should look at the presidency and ask why term limits are in place. Term limits keep representatives from gaming the system. If D’Amico, Martin and Borelli were all on the council, real change for the better would happen. Then WEHO might join the ranks of truly conscious communities, like Austin, Texas, Portland, Oregon and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.… Read more »
