The City of West Hollywood, in partnership with its LGBTQ+ Commission and community partners Fan Girl Cafe and the L Project, is excited to announce a special event, “Queer Art in the Park,” celebrating Lesbian and Queer Women’s Visibility Week (LQWVW). This vibrant gathering will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, Sunday, April 28, 2024, at West Hollywood Park.
The park will transform into a festive venue showcasing queer arts vendors, live music and various lawn games. The event aims to spotlight the creativity and diversity of the lesbian and queer women’s community, offering a platform for artists and crafters to display their work.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along picnic essentials—such as blankets, yoga mats, and lawn chairs—and enjoy an afternoon of relaxation, networking, and celebration under the sun.
Admission to “Queer Art in the Park” is free, making it accessible to all who wish to support and engage with the local LGBTQ+ community. This event is one of the highlights of the Lesbian and Queer Women’s Visibility Week, which runs through April 28.
For more information about the week’s activities and other events, please visit the City’s official LGBTQ+ hub at weho.org/lgbtq. Join your neighbors in celebrating the rich cultural tapestry of West Hollywood and help promote visibility and inclusivity for lesbian and queer women throughout our community.
Maybe 20 years from now we will find this article and the idea behind “Queer Art” as silly as some of the interviews and articles I see from the 1980’s.
