GYM Bar WeHo, a staple in the West Hollywood community for nearly 15 years, has announced plans for significant renovations aimed at enhancing the customer experience and fostering inclusivity. The renovation will kick off shortly after the Pride season, with several improvements lined up to modernize the space.
Carolyn Baylon Design, a notable name in the industry, will lead the redesign efforts. The planned changes include the introduction of all-new furniture, an upgraded audio and visual system, an expanded restroom area, and a brand-new menu curated by top chefs.
“Our vision is crystal clear: to create an inclusive space that honors the past while embracing the future,” said a spokesperson for GYM Bar WeHo. “We aim to elevate the experience for everyone who steps through our doors, fostering connections, camaraderie, and unforgettable moments.”
The redesign aims to keep the bar’s heart and soul intact while giving it a fresh, new look. This initiative reflects the bar’s commitment to remaining a vibrant and welcoming space for the community.
Renovations are scheduled to commence after the area’s annual Pride celebrations, a timing chosen to minimize disruption and align with a period of renewal and celebration within the community.
GYM Bar WeHo encourages patrons and the public to follow their progress on social media platforms where updates and sneak peeks of the renovations will be shared regularly.

The one element I hope they keep (understandably not available during Pride weekend) is cocktails served in GLASS glassware. Paying WeHo prices for cocktails to be served in plastic cups is absurd. But, as far as I know, the Gym Bar is (was?) the only Boyztown establishment to buck that trend.
Rick Schmutzler had to sell the bar back in March to pay for legal issues he got himself into. With his involvement in Krissy Schuh Barseen Vestigate App fraud. The money she and her business partner Sally Kushner stole. They gave to Rick to hide and launder. And he did a tell all and through them under the bus to save his ass.
So the Judge gave him fines he has to pay with court fees. His Layers were 500 an hour. It adds up.
So Rick schumyster had no choice but to sell Gymbar the one in West Hollywood.
Krissy Schuh and her lover Sally Kuchner stole a phuk load of money from people all whom in the gay community. And Rick Schmutzler got involved too in it. And ya. When the shyt hit the fan 💩. And legal action went on them for fraud. Rick Schmutzler sold his West Hollywood bar Gymbar to pay legal fees and fines. To keep his fat ass out of jail.
Just brilliant. The place always looked like it was put together on a shoe string, absolutely no shade to the past owners who kept it going and deserve a ton of respect. This new look is what so many wanted and given it is owned by weho locals with a sports background, will be awesome!
Looks like it’s turned into what they have across the street, down the street.
more profit this way for their bottom line
GYM Bar WeHo ❓ Adding alcohol & junk food to a workout routine would defeat the purpose but, it’s a sports bar and NOT a gym. Appealing to sportsmen & women as opposed to athletes, who watch sporting events they’ve never played in their entire life while consuming alcohol & junk food. This is so NOT an original idea and, it’s easy to find other places where it’s failed miserably. YES, the COVID-19 Pandemic ☣ contributed significantly many sports bars’ demise, a pandemic resurgence could easily occur and, sports bars have always been risky investments.
Are you ok? You know the bar has been around for 15 years, right? Whatever are you on about!
Wow
Hmm, sounds like we won’t be affording it for our local bar. Sounds like it’s heading for a destination, every once-in-a-while, special occasion bar. ‘Menu by top chefs’; sorry, loved the fish-n-chips, big glass cocktails and wobbly chairs & tables. Was very happy for the new owners, but me and my friends sit in the stands, not the luxury boxes.
These guys will bring more love to this corner then its ever had. They live in Weho for so many years, they want what you want. And..they are kind of bleacher types themselves.
Hoping it will be a neighborhood type bar, low key and good food. We don’t need another club with strippers and drag shows. Every other place is that.
Exactly, stop trying to compete for the fickle and occasional luxury box bar crowd in West Hollywood, and compete for the business of those sitting in the stands. They’ll always be more likely to be your repeat customers and it may be more gradual but you’ll make more money off of them coming back repeatedly and regularly.
Should be interesting. Kind of think its nice the way it is. Renderings look like Stache.
Love the video and improvements coming! I just don’t understand when they say “create an inclusive space.” It’s always been inclusive as is every restaurant and every bar in this city. Just make it nice treat everybody nicely and everybody will come.
1997 called, they want their “inclusive” word back.
