Controversy swirls as Katy Perry to celebrate new single at Beaches Tropicana

Pop superstar Katy Perry is set to headline “EVITA,” an anticipated event presented by Andres Rigal at Beaches Tropicana in West Hollywood, on Friday, August 23, 2024. The show begins at 9:00 PM, with tickets already in high demand as early bird and pre-sale options have sold out.

The event will celebrate the release of Perry’s new single “Lifetimes,” and features a lineup of vibrant performers including Carmen Electra, who will serve as the special guest host. Additional live performances will include acts by Chrissy Chlapecka, Horsegurl, and Ceranda, with DJs Mike Taylor and Aaron Colbert setting the musical backdrop.

Perry is currently facing scrutiny over allegations of unauthorized filming in Spain. According to a statement from the regional government of the Balearic Islands, Perry’s production team filmed her new music video for “Lifetimes” in the protected Ses Salines Natural Park without the required permit. The video, which premiered on August 8, features Perry on the park’s protected sand dunes.

While the regional government clarified that the issue does not constitute a “crime against the environment” — as filming is permissible with prior authorization — the incident adds to a series of challenges for Perry. Her recent work, including the single “Woman’s World,” has attracted criticism for perpetuating outdated stereotypes. Additionally, Perry has been criticized for her continued collaboration with producer Dr. Luke, who has been embroiled in a longstanding legal dispute with singer Kesha over serious allegations, which he denies.

Located at 8911 Santa Monica Blvd, Beaches Tropicana will host the one-night event that promises a mix of music, dance, and spectacle, described as “dripping with decadence and debauchery.” The event is part of a larger series produced by Rigal, known for creating high-energy gatherings that cater to a diverse and vibrant crowd.

VIP tickets are available at $69.00, plus fees, with early bird options already sold out. Interested parties can inquire about VIP table services by contacting the provided email.

For attendees, doors open at 9:00 PM and they are advised to arrive early to ensure entry. Tickets can be managed and printed at home for convenience. The event underscores West Hollywood’s reputation as a hotspot for entertainment and LGBTQ+ friendly events, with “EVITA” promising to be a highlight of this summer’s social calendar.
