This weekend, West Hollywood’s Kings Road Park will host the final performances of the city’s Free Theatre in the Parks series, presented in collaboration with the Pacific Opera Project (POP). As part of this year’s offering, POP has crafted a unique and enchanting mashup of Jules Massenet’s Cendrillon and Gioacchino Rossini’s Cenerentola, giving audiences a fresh and whimsical take on the beloved fairytale Cinderella.
A final performance will be held today, September 22, at 4:00 PM in Kings Road Park, located at 1000 Kings Road in West Hollywood.
The 60-minute, family-friendly production, Cinderella Story, directed by Jack Zager, features an exciting ensemble of performers including Lydia Brown, Jessica Gonzalez-Rodriguez, Byron Mayes, Christina Pezzarossi, Dominic Salvati, Emily Scott, and Christopher Walters. Accompanied by a live piano, the production promises to dazzle with humor, drama, and romance as it tells the tale of a young girl’s journey from housemaid to princess.
POP’s mashup opera combines the most delightful scenes and music from two classic Cinderella operas, sprinkled with the company’s signature humor and creativity. Audiences can expect to see all the favorite characters, from the dashing prince to the wicked stepsisters, with a few unexpected surprises along the way.
Since 2011, Pacific Opera Project has been dedicated to making opera accessible, affordable, and enjoyable for everyone. This year’s outdoor performances, part of West Hollywood’s Free Theatre in the Parks series, provide a perfect way for the community to experience world-class opera in a relaxed and family-friendly setting.
As an outdoor event, seating is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot. The event is free and open to the public, making it a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the arts in the beautiful surroundings of Kings Road Park.

Really great production! I hope they continue this series every year. Amazing to see such talented actors for free at your local neighborhood park.
Cinderella will be played by an actress, right? Seems you have to check these things nowadays.
