DEAR WEHO: Stop tying up the Collar Club’s opening

Dear All,

I am writing to urgently highlight the gravity of the situation surrounding the delayed opening of The Collar Club. This is no longer just about one business—it’s about five well-known brands moving into a once-blighted corner of West Hollywood. These brands include:

• Intelligentsia Coffee
• Collar & Comb
• Collar & Click
• The Vault
• Collar & Foam
• The Collar Club
• Collar & Home

Together, these businesses are set to transform this area and provide a significant boost to the community. However, there are 28 jobs on the line if we cannot find a way to open our doors. Our landlords are also facing difficulties leasing out adjoining properties due to the ongoing delays and incomplete construction, leaving this area in a perpetual state of limbo.

We’ve followed every requirement, paid all fees, and yet have faced repeated delays due to lost paperwork, stagnation, and documented negligence on the city’s part. We have even received written admissions of fault from city officials, and yet we are still left waiting.

This situation is beyond unacceptable. We have played by the city’s rules, supported West Hollywood publicly in outlets such as The New York Times, and have made tangible contributions to the neighborhood by revitalizing the area, addressing transient population issues, vandalisms, recovering a rundown segment on the busiest intersection in West LA by creating a safe, lighted, luxurious development and positive community environment. Yet we have been met with nothing but bureaucratic delays and nonsense.

We as a group demand immediate answers and a face-to-face meeting this week to resolve these issues. If this continues, we are prepared to take this story public again however this time we will present all of the documentation for public spectacle. The 28 jobs and the future of these businesses are at risk, and we will not stand by and let bureaucratic negligence and inaction destroy the efforts we’ve made to improve this city. Our scheduled opening is October 14, and we need action now.

Please respond with a date and time for a meeting.

This corner is becoming an eye sore! Cut your loses and if u can get out of your lease. Customers bringing tbeir pets will not feel safe with the crowds of transients that loiter on tbe sidewalk outside. Your gold bar rails will not help

Speaking of crime… A land Proposal for 1105 N Laurel Ave. West Hollywood, CA 90046 They want to build a 4 story medical marijuana store and a Palestinian restaurant on top… The traffic, noise, crime, smells, are going to be unbelievable, not to mention the complex will be higher than the houses around it, that’ll be a privacy issue in the neighborhood…

That is why Mayor Erickson and Danny Hang want to reduce the number of lanes on Fountain to one in each direction and install protected bike lanes. Your life will be so much better.

Yes, my life will be better. I don’t even ride a bike and I’m still looking forward to the improvements on Fountain. I hope someone sues the city for ADA violations so we can speed up the sidewalk improvements too. If you’re so angry about Fountain, maybe you should have run for city council yourself…. Hmm

WeHo makes it impossible for any business to open or any building to be built. But boy, they have no problem letting homeless people stand in one spot and scream, curse or spit at people as they walk by. I can’t even walk my dog any more without being verbally assaulted by a homeless person.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the city is waiting on landlord notice that they are selling the whole corner now with zen gone that’s a prime piece of real estate for development……

Maybe the toxic mayor and the equally toxic former mayor are waiting on free fits for their “dog mayors.”

Sounds like you need more forceful attorneys. As a former retail business owner, I would open regardless of what this viper’s nest we refer to as city council does or doesn’t do and let the courts decide. As long as you have all the facts to back you up.

Is this the corner of La Cienega and SM Boulevard? Across CVS? Excited to hear we may get another coffee spot there.

Don’t worry; your issue was brought up at the candidates forum at Kol Ami this afternoon. The Mayor says he is working with you and staff and everything is under control. I am sure this solves all of your problems.

Hi Paul –

Can you provide readers with more information on exactly where these new businesses are located (This SE corner of La Cienega and Santa Monica?) AND can you provide some context on what specific City of West Hollywood actions remain outstanding which prevents you from opening?

Have you gotten the Chamber involved?

Also, you’re asking for a meeting – but with whom?

Thanks!!

Is Intelligentsia Coffee building a cafe there, or is that the coffee that will be served at Collar Club?

Southeast corner of SMB/La Cienega. It’s like the city wants all four corners to collapse.
