After weeks of searching, authorities have made a significant arrest in connection to the violent assault on longtime Barney’s Beanery valet Efrain “Frankie” Zarazua.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has yet to provide details about the arrest, but officials are preparing to hold a news conference today to offer more information about the case and the brutal assault on Zarazua.

Zarazua was attacked on September 14 near the restaurant on Santa Monica Boulevard, where he had worked as a valet for 30 years. In surveillance footage from the night of the incident, a shirtless man approaches Zarazua, strikes him in the face, and knocks him unconscious as he falls to the pavement. The attacker then kicked Zarazua multiple times before fleeing the scene.

During the search for the attacker, Zarazua’s community rallied around him, raising over $50,000 to help with his recovery.

Authorities have not released the name of the suspect in custody but plan to discuss the case during the upcoming press conference. Prior reports indicated that the same suspect was involved in multiple assaults that night, including the attack on Zarazua.
