The West Hollywood Holiday Poetry Hotline invites the community to dial in for a dose of poetic inspiration and comfort starting today and running through Dec. 31.
Hosted by West Hollywood City Poet Laureate Jen Cheng, the hotline can be reached at (310) 853-3952, providing recorded poems 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the month.
This year’s hotline theme, “poetry prescriptions,” offers literary remedies for the common winter blues. The recordings feature an impressive lineup of works by former West Hollywood City Poets Laureate Steven Reigns, Kim Dower, Charles Flowers, and Brian Sonia-Wallace, as well as new poems by the current City Poet Laureate, Jen Cheng.
A highlight of the hotline will take place during live call-in hours on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. During this period, callers can experience live poetry readings from the curated collection or request a custom poem tailored specifically to them.
The Holiday Poetry Hotline reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to celebrating the arts and fostering a sense of community. Whether seeking solace, joy, or a spark of creativity, community members are encouraged to call in and immerse themselves in the transformative power of poetry.
Love it!
