Irene is an aging widow who, during World War II, was in love with a soldier boy, Chet. But her parents disapproved of him, and she turned him away. Both married other people and got on with their lives. Since her husband’s death, she has reunited with Chet, who is still married, to resume the love relationship that they began decades ago.
