There’s a reason Glen Alen so convincingly evokes characters such as Bette Midler and Barbra Streisand. Alen is not just a performer, he’s also a master makeup artist with television credits stretching back years. Although his go-to persona is the Divine Miss M, he can also be seen as Boy George, Cyndi Lauper, Bjork, Lady Gaga and both Glinda and Elphaba from “Wicked” (at the same time). You never know where this drag chameleon will pop up next — or who he’ll be.

Q-and-A with Alen
Name: Glen Alen

Home city: Hollywood
Where do you perform? Private parties and nightclubs throughout the United States.
Other job(s): Make-up artist for TV\film.
Impersonations: Bette Midler, Lady Gaga, Barbra Streisand, Cher, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Stevie Nicks, Cruella De Vil, etc…
How long have you been impersonating that person (or people)? 25 years.
What drew you to the people you impersonate? As a gay boy of 16, my jaw dropped as I watched my first drag celebrity impersonators. The truth was that it was a man and a dress. But my eyes, my mind and my heart couldn’t help but feel the excitement and joy, as if it were the real celebrity. It was like a moth to a flame. I now know I was born to it.
