Mito Aviles, an unsuccessful candidate for a West Hollywood City Council seat in the 2011 election, has signed on to Lucas John Junkin’s city council campaign as treasurer.

Aviles moved to West Hollywood in 2008. He and his boyfriend, Chad Michael Morrisette, own CM Squared Designs, a company that manufactures window displays. Aviles and Morrisette sparked controversy in 2008 when they hung an effigy from their house at Fountain Avenue near Orange, a mannequin dressed as Sarah Palin.

Junkin, who announced his candidacy last Friday, also was an unsuccessful council candidate in the 2011 election. He operates the WeHo Confidential website and is a social event producer.

Irrespective of Wehoconfidential or his work as a nightlife promoter; if you know or have heard Lucas John, you are indeed aware (sometimes painfully so) that he cares and is passionate about West Hollywood. He is smart and loquacious and his voluble presence will no doubt draw attention to quality of life issues in Weho and that’s a good thing!

This will be another fun election to observe. Good luck Lucas. 🙂

Mito and Lucas are going to be a great team! They both care about West Hollywood and want to see things change for the better. I’m glad he’s gotten involved.
