Yvonne Quarker has been named City Clerk of West Hollywood. Quarker, who has worked with the city for more than 11 years, has served as assistant city clerk for almost three years. Previously she worked in the city’s Rent Stabilization and Housing Division and in the Legal and Prosecution Services office.
Quarker succeeds Corey Schaffer, who announced in November that he was stepping down to move to New York City with his partner. Schaffer had held the position since 2011.
In her role as city clerk, Quarker will be responsible for managing legislative proceedings, preparing for and conducting elections, programming for commission and advisory boards and managing records, mail services and main reception services. In addition, the city clerk provides technical assistance to various departments and divisions within city government and to the city manager and City Council. The city clerk oversees seven full-time employees is a member of the city’s management team.
Quarker is a member of the City Clerks Association of California and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She will report to LuNita Bock, the city’s director of Human Resources and Administrative Services.
