A 55-year-old West Hollywood skin care business owner suspected of trying to hire a man to kill one of her competitors was charged today with solicitation of murder, authorities said.
Dawn DaLuise, proprietor of Skin Refinery at 8543 Santa Monica Blvd. near West Knoll, was arrested Wednesday morning, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives from the sheriffs Fraud and Cyber Crimes Bureau were investigating a cyber stalking case on Tuesday when they received separate information about an alleged solicitation for murder, Deputy Peter Gomez of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau said.
Following up on leads, investigators served several warrants in the Los Angeles County area on Wednesday and arrested DaLuise, who was booked at the sheriff’s West Hollywood Station.
“The investigation is still ongoing relative to the male allegedly contacted by DaLuise to perform murder for hire,” Gomez said. “The motive for the alleged crime is over a business dispute with an esthetician competitor.”
DaLuise was being held at the sheriff’s West Hollywood Station in lieu of $1 million bail, according to online jail records.
She was formally charged today and was due to be arraigned this afternoon, Ricardo Santaigo of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.
The target of the alleged plot was Gabriel Suarez who opened Smooth Cheeks in the same block as Skin Refinery, according to the Los Angeles Times.
DaLuise’s rival moved into the same building as Skin Refinery, according to TMZ, which reported that the person allegedly solicited to perform the killing was former Detroit Lions offensive lineman Chris Geile, who played in three games for the team in 1987.
DaLuise’s clients have included Christina Ricci, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Nicky Minaj and Jennifer Anniston, according to news reports.
