WeHo Tennis Festival participants (left to right) Marcel Freeman, Doug Adler, John Letts, Kelly Gullett, Mats Wilander, Brian Teacher and Cameron Lickle.The West Hollywood Tennis Festival attracted 80 people to Plummer Park on Sunday for a tennis exhibition with the former No. 1 player in the world, Mats Wilander, who offered a “Wilander on Wheels” fantasy tennis clinic. There were also clinics in which participants could play with former Australian Open champion Brian Teacher, Stanford All-American John Letts and four-time UCLA All-American and world-top 50 player Marcel Freeman.
The festival was open to existing tennis players as well as to people who have never picked up a tennis racquet.The city’s Recreation Services Division, in partnership with the company iTennis, launched new tennis programming at the city’s courts in January . This programming includes court rentals, private lessons and group clinics, tennis camps for kids during school breaks and tournaments. @Larry Block…LEAVE the historic building where it is…ditch the two courts…or re-locate the two courts. @Jim Chud, I agree. NO publicity, or very little, about the event. Mats Wilander was BIG TIME and could have been a draw.

it’s a shame official dent wasn’t publicized a better we could have had a much larger turn outto most people MATTS WILANDER is a name they recognize.to those of us who may have played tennis seriously in college or as kids the other names are pretty recognizable to

Lots of tennis courts.. can we spare 2 of them.. move Great Hall/Long Haul along that perimeter and open up the green space and its a win-win for everybody.
