If you find yourself strolling down Robertson Boulevard on Saturday you might just be gobsmacked at the posh folks you see looking all smart and brill.
It’s the second annual BritWeek Robertson Shopping Stroll, which brings Brits and those who love them to Robertson Boulevard between Beverly and Third to explore the collection of upscale shops. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes special offers at some stores on Robertson and nearby (including afternoon tea at Ted Baker and tea in the Tuscan Garden at Eskandar, 8816 Melrose Ave.)
BritWeek is a non-profit organization, started in Los Angeles in 2007 by Nigel Lythgoe and the then Consul General, Bob Peirce, to highlight the creative fusion between the United Kingdom and California. It since has expanded to include Miami. In addition to promoting the partnership between us and our former ruler, BritWeek makes contributions to various charities, including Malaria No More, Save the Children, LA’s BEST, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Big Brothers Big Sisters and to programs promoting children’s sports, children’s literacy and international professional internships.
You won’t need to be minted, but you probably will want to dress like dog’s dinner so you’ll feel comfortable approaching the Brits on the sidewalk for a nice chin way.
