The West Hollywood Domestic Violence Community Response Team (DV-CRT) will host a free 90-minute workshop on Empowering Relationships this Saturday at 11 a.m.
It will take place at the West Hollywood Community Center at Plummer Park, located at 7377 Santa Monica Boulevard, Rooms 5 & 6. The workshop will include representatives from the Los Angeles LGBT Center, WomenShelter of Long Beach, and the WeHo sheriff’s department
It will examine LGBT relationships and identify healthy forms of intimacy and communication, according to the city. It will also examine what types of behaviors and/or patterns within intimate relationships can be unhealthy or cross over into being abusive. Participants who are in abusive relationships and need help will be able to find resources.
“The goal is to start a conversation within the community to encourage dialogue and discussion of relationship dynamics, and to provide tools and resources to those in abusive relationship to know that they are not alone and that assistance is available,” the city said in a news brief.
