Singer Simone Battle, who rose to fame as a finalist in the 2011 U.S. version of “X-Factor,” was found dead Friday morning in her West Hollywood apartment, with her death an apparent suicide.
Following her “X-Factor” brush with stardom, Battle, 25, joined G.R.L., the all-girl group formed by Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin.
Deputies were dispatched at 8:24 a.m. Friday on a “possible suicide” call to the 9000 block of Dorrington Avenue, said a lieutenant at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station. The lieutenant said it was unknown where Battle’s body was found inside the apartment. But TMZ reported she was found hanging on a rod in the closet of her bedroom.
Coroner’s Lt. David Smith said Battle’s autopsy will probably be done today.
