The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation hosts a blood drive at West Hollywood Park along with a panel discussion about the implications of a longstanding federal policy that essentially bans men who have sex with men from ever donating blood. Panelists will include State Assemblymember Richard Bloom; Scott A. Schoettes, the HIV Project director and a senior attorney at Lambda Legal; Ayako Miyashita, the Brian Belt HIV Law & Policy Fellow at the Williams Institute; West Hollywood Councilmember John Duran, and Los Angeles City Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell. The event will include tables for event supporters, food trucks and entertainment. An appointment to donate blood can be made online, using HRCLA as a code.
