Lloyd Long, the city of West Hollywood’s former Director of Human Services, died during the weekend while vacationing with friends in Nevada.
According to a city press release, Long was one of the City’s earliest employees following the City’s founding in 1984 and “he epitomized the city’s core values. His leadership in the Human Services Department established the city as a leader in providing essential social services for its most vulnerable residents.”
Lloyd, who worked for the city for more than two decades before retiring in 2009, is survived by his son, Harrison.
Flags throughout the city of have been lowered to half-mast in honor of Long.

He will be missed.
