Outfest, the organization behind the Outfest LGBT film festival held annually in Los Angeles, will honor writer Armistead Maupin and actress Hillary Swank at its Legacy Awards on November 12.
The awards, at which Levi Strauss & Co. will also be honored, will be held at performing Vibiana, 214 Main St. at East 2nd in downtown Los Angeles.
“Maupin will be presented with the Visionary Award for crafting a colorful, indelible saga of LGBT life that began in the mid-1970s and concluded with this year’s The Days of Anna Madrigal, the final installment of his groundbreaking serial, Tales of the City,” the press release said. “Swank will receive the Trailblazer Award in recognition of her Oscar-winning performance in ‘Boys Don’t Cry,’ a film that humanized the struggle for transgender identity and brought significant visibility to the subject.”
Tickets will go on sale on October 7.
