Next month West Hollywood will host its third annual clothing drive for the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Youth Center on Highland. Clothing will be accepted from the community and all items collected will be distributed to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people in need.
The Youth Center responds to the essential needs of LGBT young people, thousands of whom find themselves without a home or support. The Center is a safe, welcoming place that connects young people with essential services and educational and employment opportunities. It also helps them prepare resumes and develop employment interviewing skills.
Many young people at the Center do not have professional clothing for job interviews or to sustain employment. West Hollywood will collect men’s and women’s items including dress pants, shirts, suits, jackets, shoes and belts. Casual clothing, such as jeans, sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets and coats, new underwear, socks, women’s tights and shoes (tied together) are also appreciated.
The city will be accepting items in collection bins at West Hollywood City Hall, 8300 Santa Monica Blvd. at Sweetzer, from Jan. 2 until Jan. 30, 2015. Validated parking for West Hollywood City Hall is available at the Kings Road Municipal Parking Structure, located at 8383 Santa Monica Blvd.
