More than 22,000 runners made their way from Dodger Stadium through West Hollywood and Beverly Hills to end up in Santa Monica today in the Los Angeles Marathon.

Runners in the “stadium to the sea” race made their way through downtown Los Angeles before turning to head northwest through Echo Park and Silver Lake. They followed Sunset Boulevard to Hollywood Boulevard, moving down Orange Street to Sunset Boulevard again and making their way through West Hollywood. Then they raced through Beverly Hills and Brentwood to Santa Monica and the sea.

In the adjacent photograph, Jon Viscott, stationed on the roof of the London West Hollywood hotel, captured the sea of runners as they made their way west. The winner was Daniel Limo, 31, of Kenya, who crossed the finish line in 2 hours 10 minutes 36 seconds. The women’s race was won by another Kenyan, Ogla Kimaiyo, with a time of 2:34.10.

On April 19 West Hollywood will host the Sunset Strip half-marathon and a separate five kilometer race. At the end of the race there will be a music festival with live bands and alcohol served near West Hollywood Park. Registration for those races is open until April 19 and may be done online.
