A WeHo Sheriff’s Deputy Does His Duty, and Lady Gaga Gets a Ticket

The fact that the crowd outside P.U.M.P. was all gaga for Lady Gaga didn’t stop a Sheriff’s deputy from doing his job Friday night. A video posted on TMZ, the celebrity gossip site, shows Lady Gaga leaving the restaurant on the corner of North Robertson and Santa Monica boulevards, West Hollywood’s gathering place for reality TV star fans and wannabes. While the paparazzi cameras flash, the crowd on the sidewalk calls out congratulations to Gaga for landing a gig as the voice of Betty Boop in an upcoming Sony Pictures film. (We hate to bust the Boopsters but it appears the film is headed to another studio and Gaga won’t be involved.)

In the video, Gaga leaves P.U.M.P. dressed in a bizarre and tight black and gray outfit with black shades that suggests a rubber fetish gone bad. Then she crawls into her chauffeured white Rolls Royce with hugs from P.U.M.P. mistress Lisa Vanderpump. But before the Rolls can roll out of the spot where it apparently is parked illegally, a Sheriff’s deputy walks up and hands the driver a ticket.

No doubt Lady Gaga is better equipped to pay that ticket than most of us. But isn’t it comforting to know that West Hollywood’s traffic laws are equally enforced, no matter what your celebrity ranking?

Even Lady Gaga gets a parking ticket in West Hollywood.? What a waste of time and tax payer dollars, when having a celb in the city is good for biz. Such a short sighted move in my opinion. And what a messy way to brand our city, that celbs have to get stuck in the ticket machine the city budget is balanced off of

Because someone is rich and famous does not mean they should be treated differently than you or I. They may believe they are special but guess what, they are not. I almost took out the drivers door on a limo last night because it’s driver flung it open as if he or she was special too.

Although the LASD usually doesn’t write parking ticket they have the authority to do so.

the Sheriff’s Dept doesn’t enforce parking violations, that’s handled administratively by the City. If the Sheriff wrote a citation, the driver committed a moving violation.

Rick – Well said ! I had NO idea about the law in Germany in this regard, Thanks for educating me. Will this ever happen in the US ? Unfortunately, methinks not.

Good on ya’ LASD! Still love me some GaGa, but it’s nice to see them dispensing equal justice, even for something so minor.

Unfortunately, though, “deep pockets” don’t feel the pain enough to be deterred the way regular folks do. It’s just a higher-priced parking spot to them–and illustrates why in Germany, fine amounts are indexed to the financial resources of the offender–so that the pain IS felt proportionally. Unfortunately, “equal” justice isn’t so equal if your pockets aren’t as deep as the rich and famous. OJ Simpson didnt get aquitted because he was innocent: He got away with murder because he could afford the best attorneys money could buy who were able to create just enough doubt in the jury pool. Me loves me Gaga ! (Especially her SOUND OF MUSIC medley at the recent Oscars – OMG!). But it is “comforting” to see that no matter who you are and you park illegally (even in a white Rolls-Royce), you will get a ticket. I’m certain she can afford the fine !
