The City of West Hollywood is co-sponsoring a forum on Saturday about the impact of legalization of marijuana, the current state of the marijuana industry, and the real-world application of marijuana and hemp use.
The event will feature panelists and speakers from the medical field, from the legal arena and from businesses. It will provide attendees with information and participants can offer their first-hand experiences regarding medical use of marijuana and use of hemp for fuel and materials. Panelists will also discuss legal education, criminal justice impacts and innovative opportunities.
The Cannabis Education Forum will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at the West Hollywood Auditorium, located at 647 N. San Vicente Blvd. south of Santa Monica. The event is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in the adjacent West Hollywood Park five-story parking structure for a fee.
In 1996, the City of West Hollywood was an early supporter of California’s Proposition 215, also known as the Medical Use of Marijuana Initiative or the Compassionate Use Act, which was approved by voters and allows statewide use of cannabis for medicinal purposes. In 2001, the city approved a resolution declaring West Hollywood a sanctuary for medical cannabis use, cultivation and distribution.
The Cannabis Education Forum is organized by the organization of the same name, whose mission is to create a space where business, medical and marijuana professionals can have an open and on-the-record discussion about the current state of the marijuana industry with the public at-large.
