Things to Do: ‘A Brief History of Drag’ Opens with Reception at WeHo Library

history of dragAn opening reception for “A Brief History of Drag,” which takes a look at the history of drag in Los Angeles and West Hollywood from the late 1800s forward, will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the West Hollywood Library.

The reception is hosted by the City of West Hollywood’s WeHo Arts initiative. The exhibit is the result of a collaboration by One City One Pride, the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Advocate & Gochis Galleries and CAP UCLA, with assistance from the ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives. The exhibition is curated by Katie Poltz of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, David John Attyah of Glendale Community College and Jessica-Jean Fowler.

The reception will feature DJ Ambrosia Salad, guest performers, portraits by photographer Austin Young and the taking of a historic group photo of drag artists in L.A. RSVPs are required and can be made online.
