The meeting, open to the public, will take place at the City Council Chambers, which are in the building just south of the West Hollywood Library at 625 N. San Vicente Blvd., south of Santa Monica. It will begin at 2 p.m. and run until 4 p.m. Parking is available in the five-story structure off El Tovar Place.

Perez assumed her new role on Feb. 14, replacing Capt. Gary Honings, who retired. She stepped into the position at a time when residents have stepped up complaints about cell phone thefts, assaults in the nightlife area and homeless people on the streets.

Perez has been in law enforcement for 28 years in various roles including including transit services and the parks bureau. She spent two years specializing in surveillance and covert investigations, studied counter-terrorism at the FBI and is a graduate of USC’s Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE). Perez is a UCLA graduate.

Perez also has worked with several communities to increase awareness of rape as a crime, domestic violence, child abuse and anti-gang programs and is also a cultural diversity instructor for the Sheriff’s Department.
