PAWS/LA (Pets Are Wonderful Support/Los Angeles), the nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping people and pets together, has announced that it seeks to enroll new clients living in West Hollywood into its P.A.C.E. (seniors) and P.A.D. (medically disabled) programs. These programs are designed to alleviate the financial and physical hardship of animal guardianship for low-income seniors and HIV-positive and medically disabled individuals.
PAWS/LA, which began its work in West Hollywood in the late 1980s and has been an active part of the community ever since, is accepting new applications immediately. The agency provides a comprehensive range of services, including veterinary care, pet food and supplies and assistance for homebound clients, such as dog walking, pet food delivery and pet transport. PAWS/LA serves more than 1,100 people and 2,000 pets a year.
“Our story is deeply rooted in the West Hollywood community,” said Pamela Magette, executive director of PAWS/LA. “We are proud to serve the West Hollywood community and invite anyone who believes they are eligible for our programs to give us a call. No one should have to choose between caring for themselves or providing for their special animal companion. As we know, companion animals are proven to provide many benefits that keep us healthy and happy. And, we welcome the opportunity to do what we can to help people and pets and in need.”
More information about PAWS/LA’s eligibility requirements is availabe online www.pawsla.org or by calling their office located in downtown Los Angeles at 213-741-1950 x 112.

Great People and great organization. Great clients too!
Woah!!!! The HSC agenda is a major eye opening read. The $$$$$$ pipeline to JFS et all is remarkable.
PAWS is a wonderful organization that has really come through when I needed help to care for my pets. Always I was greeted with respect and kindness when I needed their services. When I was able to help back , I volunteered for them through special events they held, computer filing, filling orders for pet food and others in need for their furry loved ones. I was happy to do so because I believe they send out an unconditional love to many who need a helping hand. If you are eligible sign up,its a helpful and nice experience.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that one of PAWS FOUNDERS SITS ON THE HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION. IN MOST TOWNS ON THIS PLANET, THAT WOULD BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST. EVEN IF THEY RECLUSE THEMSELVES FROM VOTING ON AN AGENCIES CONTRACT, THE COMMISSIONERS ARE NOT GOING TO… Read more »
You can be disabled, without it being a life threatening disease. I had to give up my pet due to not being able to afford vet care and food years ago.
Nice! Now if we could evolve a similar program for at risk folks living on our streets THAT would be admirable.
