Sheriff’s deputies evacuated four buildings and closed access to Larrabee Street this afternoon after someone reported a possible bomb in a car in the garage of the building at 840 Larrabee.

Residents of three of the buildings were allowed to return to their homes, but as of 7 p.m. those living at 840 Larrabee remained outside as a bomb squad investigated the report. Larrabee remained closed between Santa Monica Boulevard and Cynthia Street.

A resident of 840 Larrabee, a building known as the Mediterranean Village Apartments, said it was rumored that someone saw a car with cables coming out of its gas tank in the 840 Larrabee parking garage, which caused suspicion.
