West Hollywood residents are invited to take a break from the cold and chow down with Capt. Holly Perez and her staff at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday.
“Cooking with the Captain” is a fundraiser for the local team for the annual “Baker 2 Vegas” run. The run is a 120-mile relay race from Baker, Calif., to Las Vegas that supports the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club. This year’s relay race, now in its 33rd year, will take place March 25 and 26.
Wednesday’s barbecue will feature plates of pulled pork or pulled chicken, served with potato salad, cole slaw and a drink for only $8. The event takes place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Station, which is at 780 N. San Vicente Blvd. at the southeast corner of Santa Monica Boulevard. Metered parking is available on Santa Monica Boulevard and in the small lot on the southwest corner of Santa Monica and San Vicente. Other parking is available at the five-story parking structure near the West Hollywood Library.
Los Angeles police officers Chuck Foote and Larry Moore started the run 33 years ago. Currently it attracts more than 200 teams of 20 law enforcement officers from across the country.
