West Hollywood will celebrate its efforts to preserve historic and culturally significant resources with an event titled “Hooray for (West) Hollywood” on Monday.
The event, from 6 to 8 p.m., will be hosted by the city’s Historic Preservation Commission. It will be held outdoors at 1300-1354 North Harper Ave., between Fountain and De Longpre avenues, in the North Harper Avenue Historic District.
The event will honor historic architecture and film locations throughout the city, where 86 buildings have been designated as historic and cultural resources since 1989.
.The event is free and open to the public. It will include a reception with refreshments and movie clips filmed in West Hollywood, going as far back as a century, will be shown. There also will be a walking tour of 1920s apartment buildings designed by architects Leland Bryant and Arthur and Nine Zwebell.
Validated parking will be provided at West Hollywood City Hall, at 8300 Santa Monica Blvd. at Sweetzer. Automated parking will be available at the garage entrance on the west side of Sweetzer Avenue, south of Santa Monica Boulevard. There also will be a free shuttle service, which will run at 15-minute intervals. It also is only a ten-minute walk from City Hall to North Harper Avenue.
