The City of West Hollywood is continuing its installation of four pedestrian crosswalks with traffic lights on Santa Monica Boulevard. The contractor completed the new irrigation pipes within the median islands. The two new turn pockets between Westmount Drive and West Knoll Drive will remain open for use with temporary pavement markings. Work on signal pole foundations and underground conduit has continued for the new traffic signals at all locations.
This coming week, drivers and pedestrians can expect daily lane closures in the immediate work areas between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Other activities include:
— Monday: The contractor will be installing/terminating conduit via boring, at Westmount Drive on the north side of Santa Monica Boulevard. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
— Tuesday: The contractor will continue working on underground conduits at Westmount Drive, north side, and installing pull boxes. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
— Wednesday: The contractor will be installing pull boxes and terminating conduit at West Knoll Drive within the sidewalk on the south side near the crosswalk. Pedestrian access may be affected during this time. A detour will be set up to send pedestrians to the north side of the street at West Knoll/Westmount crosswalks if needed.
— Thursday: Conduit work at West Knoll Drive within the sidewalk will continue. Pedestrian access may be affected during this time. A detour will be set up to send pedestrians to the north side of the street at West Knoll/Westmount crosswalks if needed. The contractor will also auger signal pole foundations at Palm if the schedule allows. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
— Friday: Concrete for traffic signal foundations will be poured at Palm and Westmount. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Push button foundations at Palm, Hancock and West Knoll will be dug out in the median areas.
To accommodate the construction, parking meters in the immediate work area may be signed with Temporary No Parking. Posted 24 hours in advance. The crosswalk at Santa Monica Boulevard and Palm Avenue will remain closed while the new curb ramps are constructed.
