This project was always meant to go beyond crosswalks. It will not only make for safer more modern pedestrian movement, it will also benefit traffic flow through a very busy commercial corridor for many years to come.

There is NO indication that this project is behind schedule, as some are suggesting here.

It also needs to be understood that this type of public infrastructure improvement is not the same as putting up a few sconces around your house or building that illegal, unpermitted shack in your backyard……This is REAL construction and engineering folks!

My comment was a layperson with zero knowledge. As you said part of a massive infrastructure. That’s why I thought they had the process down to a science and was just saying how surprised how long it takes. That’s all. Live by one, doesn’t bother me either way, just thought (as a layperson) it was amazing how long it takes.

What, if any plans does the city have for re-landscaping these now barren areas? I agree with Robert in saying this project seemed to go a lot further than just improving crosswalks. New turn lane/s have reduced whatever greenery there was in this area and it’s starting to look more and more like it’s all about cars.

I agree. But it is a traffic nightmare from Trader Joe’s. Of course, the urban law is “It wouldn’t be a Trader Joe’s if there wasn’t bad parking” (no diss to Traders, I love them and shop there all the time.
NOTE: Drought is now over for California (actually in FLOOD CRISIS from excessive snow melt immediate future). HOW ABOUT SOME MORE GRASS. I have a dog (as dones almost everyone in the blocks around trader joes. GRASS for dog relief would be a human relief as well)

This project has been a boondoggle from the very beginning. It is so far behind schedule now that one has to question what the real purpose and intent of this project was. It seems that an awful lot of street and turn lane changes were thrown in that had nothing to do with the original proposal or purpose of the project. I’m also not confident the contractor knows what they are doing or how to get it done quickly given the traffic and pedestrian demands of the area. All in all, this has been another city project that went out… Read more »

Who would have thought putting in new street signals would take so long?

Wasn’t it originally planned so that street would be completed and, more importantly, safe by October 31st- Halloween Carnaval? There are still several areas with uneven wooden boards and cut up cement. Difficult enough to navigate in daylight.
