Members of the City of West Hollywood’s largest labor union -the West Hollywood Municipal Employees (WeHoME) Association – today presented a $5,000 donation to Jewish Family Services’ SOVA Community Food & Resource Program.
In an announcement of the donation, which was presented at West Hollywood City Hall Plaza to Fred Summers, SOVA’s senior director, WeHoME said it “is part of WeHoME’s #WeHoMEGivesBack initiative as a way to thank and give back to the West Hollywood community that has always been supportive of the work performed by municipal employees.”
“All of our members are grateful for the support and kindness that the residents and business owners of West Hollywood have given to all of us,” said Gloria Aviles, president of WeHoME. “Giving back is the right thing to do, and this year we chose SOVA, as we know about the great job they do to meet the most basic nutritional needs of our community.”
“Every day, hundreds of local residents suffer food insecurity, and many go without any food,” said Jeff Book, vice president of WeHoME. “SOVA provides a critical resource to help the community address this need.”
