Another accident on Fountain.
A silver Toyota Prius heading northbound on Genesee Avenue around 3 p.m. today tried to make a left turn onto Fountain Avenue. It collided with a blue Ford Mustang traveling eastbound on Fountain.
No injuries were reported.
The accident is the latest in a series that have prompted residents along Fountain to demand the City of West Hollywood take more action to improve traffic and pedestrian safety there.
A neighborhood meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the West Hollywood Community Center at Plummer Park to discuss recommendations by the City Hall staffers that come from a Fountain Avenue Safety Study. Plummer Park is at 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.
@steve and those sections of streets you mentioned are much wider without random parts of it narrowed to 2 lanes because of parking. I knew Fountain is a thoroughfare, but over the last 5 years or so people have been treating it like a freeway.
The Prius was hit on the front driver side. This proves he had no chance in hell of making a successful, safe left turn and should not have tried it. Prius drivers are the absolute worst
@Jason
If you asked anyone 11 years ago prior to moving in, they would have told you Fountain is a thoroughfare. Not every busy street has businesses on it. Look at Sunset in Beverly Hills or Beverly Blvd through Hancock Park.
And yes, the speeding needs to be addressed with elimination of the parking.
My bedroom faces Fountain and our driveway is on Fountain. We can never take a left out of our own driveway and every time I pull out onto Fountain I say a little prayer to not be t-boned because the speed that a lot of vehicles is traveling is 50mph (in a 35). I’ve lived there for 11 years and I can tell you the traffic has most definitely doubled over the last 5-6 years. Fountain is a residential street I don’t care what anyone says…there are no businesses along Fountain. Every dump truck, 18 wheeler, ambulances, firetrucks and cop… Read more »
OMG NOT A CAR ACCIDENT NO! …Welcome to life.
Making a left onto westbound Fountain without a signal… bright, real bright.
Also a vehicle crashed into the front yard wall of the corner residence on the southeast corner of Fountain and Detroit. At about 2:15 the behicle had been removed from the yard and multiple fire trucks and sheriff cruisers were on scene.
There have been a lot of accidents on Fountain as long as I’ve lived on the East Side (since 1978). Is it really necessary to have an article for every single one now? Personally, I think it is totally unnecessary.
It’s raining.
No left turns onto Fountain from streets without lights would make sense. If someone wants to risk a ticket and be at fault with their insurance carrier, they can take a chance.
