WeHo Crime Last Week: Nine Vehicle Burglaries, Two Knife Attacks and a Fight Sparked by a Racial Epithet

Below is the weekly crime report from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station that calls out incidents in WeHo from March 19 to March 25. The list includes each case number. This report lists Part 1 (serious) crimes for the date range shown and is not meant to be a complete list of all serious crimes.

March 19

Armed Robbery. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 10 p.m. A man removed two tents and left the store without payment. When confronted by store security, another man who was with the suspect sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray. Both suspects then fled the area on foot. Loss $180. #01770

March 20

Grand Theft. 8000 block Norton Avenue at 5:30 a.m. An unknown suspect removed copper wire from the unsecured construction site. Loss $15,000. #01780

Vehicle Burglary. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 4 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear driver’s side window and removed a laptop computer, purse, makeup bag, and clothing from the back seat and rear floorboard. Loss $2,070. #01792

March 21

Aggravated Assault – Knife. 7200 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 9:25 p.m. Two women were walking on Santa Monica Boulevard. when a man crossed their path and mumbled an incoherent statement. The suspect threw a knife at the victims but it missed them and landed in the street. The suspect then hit one of the victims on her back with his fists and fled the area on Santa Monica Boulevard.. The suspect was arrested later that same evening after committing a similar incident. #01812

Aggravated Assault – Knife. La Brea Avenue / Lexington Avenue at at 11:55 p.m. Two women were walking on the sidewalk when a man crossed their path and mumbled an incoherent statement. The victims saw the suspect was holding a knife, so they walked across the street to avoid him. The suspect ran after the women and stabbed one of them on her left arm. The suspect then ran away on La Brea Avenue. Responding deputies located and arrested the suspect and also linked him to another assault (#01812) that occurred earlier in the evening. #01817.

Armed Robbery (Attempt). 1200 block Formosa Avenue at 12:20 a.m. A man was unlocking his front gate when two men approached him from behind and struck him on the head with an unknown object. The victim fell to the ground and one of the men pointed a handgun at him and demanded his money. The victim yelled for help and the suspects fled the area on foot. No loss. #01794

Vehicle Burglary. 900 block N Palm Avenue at midnight. An unknown suspect ransacked the interior and removed a spare key from the glove box. No sign of forced entry. Loss $400. #01810

Vehicle Burglary. 7100 block Santa Monica Boulevard. between 10:20 and 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a passport and phone cable from the back seat. Loss $245. #01816

March 22

Aggravated Assault – Hands, Fist, Feet. Melrose Avenue / Robertson Boulevard at 2:30 a.m. Two men were walking southbound on Robertson Boulevard when they heard a racial epithet come from a group of men who were walking directly behind them. The victims confronted the suspects and an argument ensued, which quickly escalated to a physical fight. One of the victims was punched and kicked several times and the other victim was punched one time in the face. #01818

Strong Arm Robbery. Curson Avenue / Lexington Avenue at 11:30 p.m. A man was standing on the corner of Curson Avenue and Lexington Avenue with his phone in his hand when a man approached him from behind and grabbed him in a bear hug. The victim and the suspect fell to the ground, which caused the victim to drop his phone. A second suspect that was standing nearby ran over and picked up the victims phone. Both suspects ran to a nearby car and fled the area. Loss $1,100.

March 23

Other Burglary. 7200 block Santa Monica Boulevard. at 3:43 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front glass door to gain entry and removed a cash register containing $300 cash. Loss $1,250. #01841

Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Alfred Street between 8 and 9 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed two suitcases containing clothing, a backpack containing a laptop computer, a key and and ID and another backpack containing a makeup bag and soda stream machine from the interior. Loss $6,500. #01868

Vehicle Burglary. 7500 block Hampton Avenue between 8:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. the next day. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed two shopping bags containing clothing from the interior. Loss $1,600. #01890

March 24

Vehicle Burglary. 1300 block Havenhurst Drive between 7 and 7:20 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a purse containing a cell phone, credit card, and driver’s license from the front seat. Loss $590. #01886

Vehicle Burglary. 9000 block Rangely Avenue between 2:30 and 3:48 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a phone charging cable, headphones, and a wallet containing credit cards from the center console. No sign of forced entry. Loss $640. #01930

Vehicle Burglary. 8900 block Cynthia Street at 7:40 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed three pairs of sunglasses and a garage opener from the center console. Loss $700. #01932

March 25

Residential Burglary. 1200 block Harper Avenue between 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. An unknown suspect removed prescription medication from the bathroom. No sign of forced entry. Loss $28,000. #01906

Vehicle Burglary. 900 block North Palm Avenue between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. An unknown suspect removed a cell phone adapter and garage clicker from the center console and a gym bag from the trunk. No sign of forced entry. Loss $50. #01957
