UPDATE:  Darren Richards, 37, has been arrested for allegedly punching someone in the Best Buy store and stealing his cell phone.  The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Richards on Tuesday for an unrelated crime.  Once in custody, LAPD detectives noticed that Richards resembled the man sought by West Hollywood Sheriff’s detective in the Best Buy incident on Monday and he was arrested and charged in that crime.

West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect in a robbery that occurred on Monday night.

The robbery occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. at the BestBuy store at the Gateway shopping center on the southwest corner of La Brea Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard.

The suspect, (pictured) was seen pacing throughout the store. He then approached someone from behind and, without provocation, punched him in the head, knocking him to the ground. After the assault, the suspect picked up the victim’s cell phone and fled from the store on foot through the rear emergency exit door and out of view.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 to 35 years old with a bald head, wearing tan shorts and a black hoodie. If you know him or have seen him, the Sheriff’s detectives ask that you don’t attempt to engage with him.

Instead, please contact the West Hollywood Station at (310) 855-8850. If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), or use your smartphone to download the “P3 Tips” mobile app on Google play or the Apple App Store or by using the website.

“allegedly punching someone”

Ha ha! OK he’s technically not guilty of a crime until convicted, but, he absolutely did punch the guy. There’s no doubt about that – unless in WeHo that gesture is similar to some kind of common aggressive massage\domination role play thing 😉

Personally, I think California should implement the Singapore style Rotan Gluteus Massage as punishment for such crimes.

Good job LAPD. LASD may not have ever caught him.
