Most West Hollywood residents (and visitors) know the city for its nightlife, restaurants and movie-production businesses and design-oriented businesses. But West Hollywood also is home to some very successful digital entrepreneurial businesses in other fields. One of those in Muzik, the headphone brand, which is billed as the “smart phone of headphones” and which recently was ranked as No. 14 in a list of the 15 largest U.S. startup funding rounds of May 2018.
That $70 million in funding comes from a fashionable and famous crowd according to a story in Forbes. That crowd includes Francois-Henri Pinault, the chairman of Kering, which owns famous luxury brands such as Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Boucheron and Brioni. Pinault is said to have provided nearly half of the Spring fund-raising round
Other prominent investors are athletes such as Michael Jordan, entertainers such as Drake and Kevin Hart and motivational speaker Tony Robbins.
Muzik, which is headquartered on Sunset Boulevard, produces technologically advanced headphones that also have a sense of style. Its Muzik One is billed as “first wireless, smart headphones to control third-party applications. With one touch, users can access their favorite Spotify playlist, hear live news, activate voice controls and much more.” That headphone retails for $299.
Muzik was founded in 2013 by Jason Hardi, its current CEO.
