WeHo Resident Finds Burglar Asleep in His Bed

An Orange Grove Avenue resident comes home to find a burglar has taken a shower, cooked himself a meal and is asleep in his bed. That’s perhaps the most unusual serious crime in West Hollywood last week. Below is a list of all Part I, or serious, crimes in West Hollywood from June 4 to 10.

June 4

Aggravated Assault – Hands, Fist, Feet (Suspect Arrested). 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 10:45 p.m. A woman was punched one time in the face by an acquaintance during an argument. The suspect and victim were heavily intoxicated and refused to cooperate. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies. #03621

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon. 8800 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 12:52 am. A women was hit on her head with a glass thrown by a man during an argument in the bathroom of the club. The victim suffered a cut on her head that required stitches. #03638

Other Burglary. 1000 block Crescent Heights Boulevard at 9:45 a.m. A man broke the lock on the front gate to gain access to a vacant property. The owner of the property saw the suspect standing inside of the house and notified the Sheriff’s Department. Responding deputies found the suspect inside of the residence and arrested him. #18-03490. Loss $80 (gate lock). #03602

Residential Burglary – Suspect Arrested. 1200 block North Orange Grove Avenue at 3 p.m. A man used an unlocked rear sliding door to gain access and removed clothing. The suspect also used the victim’s shower and cooked food in the kitchen. The victim returned home and found the suspect asleep in his bed. The suspect ran from the residence but was arrested by responding deputies. The victims clothing was also recovered. #03616

June 5

Other Burglary. 600 block La Cienega Boulevard at 8:13 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front window to gain access and removed two Gucci travel bags from a display area. Loss $4,100. #03625

June 6

Grand Theft. 8500 block Melrose Avenue at 4:38 p.m. A women removed a dress from the display area and left the store without payment. Loss $995. #03675

Other Burglary. 600 block North Robertson Boulevard at 4:17 a.m. An unknown suspect broke the front gate lock and then smashed a glass door to gain entry to the business. A display case was broken, but it’s unclear if anything was taken. Loss $1,300. #03660

June 7

Grand Theft. 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 6:42 and 10 p.m. An unknown suspect removed two bags containing clothing and a laptop computer from the back seat of the unlocked vehicle. Loss $5,300. #03706

Other Burglary. 1100 block La Brea Avenue at 4:50 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front glass door to gain access and removed $240 from the cash register. Loss $940. #03688

Vehicle Burglary. Fountain Avenue / Orange Grove Avenue from 7 and 10:30 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a notebook from the front seat. Loss $275. #03702

Vehicle Burglary. Laurel Avenue / Santa Monica Boulevard between 11:30 p.m. and 1:15 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window but did not take anything. Loss $150. #03710

Vehicle Burglary. 8600 block Santa Monica Boulevard between 5 and 10 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed backpack containing clothing and miscellaneous electronics from the front seat. Loss $3,600. #03718

June 8

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon (Suspect Arrested) 800 block Doheny Drive at 4:43 p.m. A man intentionally drove his vehicle into the victim’s vehicle during a road rage incident. The victim was not injured. The suspect was arrested. #03722

Armed Robbery. 8900 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 1 a.m. A man removed food items from a display area and left the store without payment. When confronted by store security, the suspect sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray and then fled the area on a bicycle. Loss $30. #03708

Strong Arm Robbery. 1200 block Sweetzer Avenue at 12:10 pm. A man was standing on the sidewalk when another man approached him from behind and wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck. The suspect took the victim’s wallet and jacket and then fled the area on foot. Loss $650. #03709

Vehicle Burglary. Rosewood Avenue between 9:30 and 10:15 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a backpack containing a laptop computer, sunglasses, and school supplies from the rear floorboard. Loss $2,000. #03732

June 9

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon. 8500 block Santa Monica Boulevard at 9:20 p.m. Two men confronted the restaurant manager and accused him of throwing away a bottle of alcohol they had hidden near a wall of the business. One of the suspects spit on the victim’s face and a fight ensued. While fighting, one of the suspects picked up a metal stand and swung it at the victim but missed him. Both suspects then fled the area on foot. #03759

Grand Theft. 900 block Westmount Drive at 11 p.m. An unknown suspect cut the lock and removed a bicycle from the balcony of the first floor apartment. Loss $1,500. #03777

Vehicle Burglary. Hilldale Avenue / Sunset Boulevard at 8:57 p.m. An unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger’s side window and removed a duffel bag containing clothing from the rear floorboard and a jacket from the back seat. Loss $6,000. #03775

Vehicle Burglary. 8400 block Sunset Boulevard between 10:38 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. An unknown suspect smashed the front passenger’s side window and removed a purse containing credit cards from the rear floorboard. Loss $530. #03770

June 10

Aggravated Assault – Other Weapon (Suspect Arrested). Melrose Avenue / San Vicente Boulevard at 7:30 p.m. A man picked up a metal barrier and threw it at a security guard after being told to leave the area. The suspect was arrested. #03801
